MATTERS OP INTEREST FROM FAR AND NEAR.

Mass followed, the. choii 1 rendering music appropriate for the occasion. The bride looked charming in n white georgetti over a pale pink ninon, and the usual veil and orange blossoms, carrying a shower bouquet of roses. Tho bridesmaid, Miss Mary O'Farrell, wore blue crepo de chine, with leghorn hat trimmed with pink roses, her shower bouquet being of pink carnations. The bridegroom was attended hy Mr. T. O'Rourko, of Otaki. The bride's mother wore mole taffetas • costume and becoming hat to match. The bridegroom's mother wore black ninon trimmed with lace, and a neat black hat. The guests were afterwards, entertained at the Druids' 1 Hall, where the usual toasts were honoured. Later on in the afternoon the brido and bridegroom left by motor on their honeymoon trip north. The bride travelled in a brown tailor-made costumo and hat to match. The numerous presents bore testimony to the popularity of the young couple. Scottish Society, On Saturday evening the Social Hall of the above society was filled to its utmost capacity, when membors and visiting friends enjoyed themselves to the full. Music, dancing, and games were the order of tho evening. The traditional martial spirit of the Celt was much in evidence, not only in the stirring patriotic items contributed hy Mrs. Anderson and Mr. M'Gfegor, but also in the largo number of gallant voting fellows who .were bearing His Majesty's uniform. The "Wee M'Calls" contributed comic numbers, which provoked much merriment. 'Altogether , these weekly functions possess much more than ordinary interest to the Scotsman who is a Scotsman. Here can be herd in colloquial intercourse the robust -vernacular of the Scottish Highlands, as well as the "namely" patois of Clydoside and the East Netik of Fife.
