YACHT AND MOTOR-BOAT CLUB

Tha annual' meeting cf the Wellington and Petone Yacht and Motor Boat Association was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. A. _ Petherick presiding. The financial position, it was stated, was sound, and it was resolved that, owing to the abnormal times, the annual club subscription be ss. for the ensuing year. \ The,chairman was deputed to endeavour to make more satisfactory arrangements for anchoring in Kau, Mahanga, and Scorching Bays during stress of weather for yachts and motor, boats. The Wellington Harbour Board is to be written to re the pollution of the waterfront by an oily tar substance from the pipe near Clyde Quay Wharf, which spreads across the water to the Boat Harbour and into the baths. Attention is also to bo drawn to the increasing amount of debris which is beingr dumped from vessels, and which finds resting places along the Boat Harbour, baths, and Oriental Bay frontages, and requesting that an endeavour be made, to reduce to a minimum the nuisance. It was resolved that it bo a recommendation that a race by the Port Nicholson Yacht Club be held from the City to Petone on November 25; also that tho Port Nicholson Motor Boat Club hold a race over tho same course at the conclusion of the same. An official visit is to bo made to tho Heretaunga Boating Club room, where afternoon tea will be dispensed by the local club. It was resolved that a patriotic aquatic carnival be held at Petone on January 22, all; proceeds to be donated to a patriotic fund. Should clubs agree, a mass meeting of yachtsmen -and friends to be held at a later dato to arrango matters. _Mr. A. Petherick was re-elected chairman, and Mr. J. A. Macdonald, of Petone, secretary and treasurer.
