SICKNESS IN CAMPS
The death of Private M.'D. Minogue, B Company, Twentieth Reinforcements, who died in .the Auckland Hospital, is reported to have been due to cerebrospinal meningitis. ■. Seven cases of cerebro-spinal meningitis aro being treated in the military hospitals at the present time.- Three of them are convalescent, two are very much improved, and the remaining two, while still serious, are progressing favourably. The outbreaks of measles and influenza are reported to havo decreased. \ ■
General Henderson, Director of Medical Services, mentioned yesterday that four cerebrospinal meningitis "carriers" had been detected in one section of the Tewnty-second Reinforcements after mohilisation, indicating that the disease was being introduced into the camp from outside. The medical officers were adopting as many precautions as possible, and the examination of all recruits was being undertaken.
