ZEPPELIN RAID FACTS

NEUTRAL OBSERVER ON ABSURD* \ .'•:, ITY OF GERMAN CLAIMS, The following message, signed by. Eniil Klaessig, transmitted from Amcr-t ica to wireless stations in Germany, is issued by the "Wireless Press": — "To Wolff's Telegraph Bureau, Berlin. ;'. : ' "The 'Globe' of September 16 has a; lengthy London report giving Mr. M'Clure's (the owner of the New York' 'Evening Mail') account of tho effecfi of the Zeppelin raids in England. Mr*' M'Cluro says:— ' " 'One is absolutely astonished afj' tho insignificance of the damage dona by the Zeppelin raider. Comparing the British and the German communiques, and personally visiting the places whero tho bombs were dropped, I can only say that the British communiques seem strictly accurate, while the German ones are utterly incomprehensible. " 'When in Berlin last February I Tcad accounts of raids upon Liverpool, Birkenhead, and Manchester. The' German Naval Staff were reporting widespread disaster, and the German Embassy at Washington issuing siiui--lar statements. On visiting those 1 places I discovered that tho Zeppelins' been there at all. " 'Similarly, the 'Hamburger Frem-; .denblatt'' reported a vast destruction? of Thamos bridges as a result of the raids at' tho end of July and the lie-' ginning of August. Tho German Gov-' eminent account confirmed the report, that several large Thames bridges, in-: chiding the Tower Bridge, tvero damaged. My personal observation prove dthat no Zeppelin had been near London on those nights.'" .' "The 'Tribune' correspondent in London, in an apparently independent report, says; 'I visited many raided places, but I never saw an official Brit-; ish report that did not give an accur-< ate account of the damage, which is always astonishingly small."
