CITY CRICKET
OLD BOYS BEAT NORTH
CENTURY BY BLACKLOCK
The senior cricket matches which wcro 'commenced on the opening day of the 'season were concluded last Saturday. The two matches played at the Basin Reserve both, bore interesting features! though neither game was to any extent exciting. Boys' Institute, secured a win over Trentham, nnd the scoring on both sides was low. \The Trentham team is fairly stroiig in bowlers. Its trundline was done chiefly by M'Lachlan, Horspool, nnd Southall, all men of reputation in representative cricket. In ono innings M'Lachlan took six wickets for 17 runs. Neither Institute nor Trentham did well with the bat. Bowling for Institute, W. Garrod took five wickets for 7 runs. . Old Boys beat North very easily. Batting for Old Boys, Blacklock scored a century (long overdue). North batted poorly, and IC. Tucker clean bowled five of them and got another out l.b.w. for 2fl runs.
