REMARKABLE SCENE IN VIENNA
SEPARATE PEACE HOAX Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Rec. November 8, 10.40 p.m.) London, November S. The "Morning Post" reports an extraordinary sensation in Vienna. The nowspapers, relying on German sources, published a rumour that there was a likelihood of a separate peace with Russia. Later, many members of the Austrian aristocracy who were attending a race meeting in the afternoon professed to confirm the tidings on the strength of an alleged .telegram from Count Tisza at Budapest,' stating that the streets were beflagged and that crowds were parading, wild with joy. Tho news spread like wildfire in Vienna, and excited crowds collected at the Ministry of War and .St. Stephen's Church, cheering themselves hoarse, and parading the kartnerstraase until the Austrian Foreign Minister issued a denial.
