CAPTAIN BARCLAY'S RECRUITING WORK. The following letter has been addressed to Captain Barclay hy the town, clerk of Wellington:— "1 am directed to forward to you the following copy of a resolution passed by the Wellington City Council, expressive of their appreciation of the services rendered by you as a member of the Civilian Recruiting Board: " 'That the council hereby expresses its appreciation of the services rendered to the City and the Dominion by Captain Barclay, and the following named gentlemen associated with him on the Recruiting Board viz., Messrs. Marohant, Hauchan, Vincent, J. W. Brown, Williams, Atkinson, Bridge, Brownrigg, Spragge, Kilgour, Watson, Medland, Shorney, Smith, Barraud, Fanway, Mace, Shaw, and Professor Brown.' ■ "The council feels that the thanks of the community are due to the gentlemen named, who gave so much of their valuable time to forward the interests of the Dominion, and the Empire in this time of national stress. His Worship the Mayor desires me to add his personal testimony that the work of enlistment was in every detail w.ell organised and carried out, and it is to bo regretted that the experience'gained during a period of twelve mouths has not been utilised in the subsequent, arrangements under the Defenco Depart* menfc."
