NEW ZEALANDERS AT HOME

London) September 21. Mr. H. D. Caplep, solicitor, of Hawcra, who arrived in England' last Wednesday, via tho Panama Canal, has come to offer his services for the war.

Lieut. G. S. Coljyns, N.Z.E.T. Co., of Greymouth, has returned to France after a week's leave, during which he visited his sister, Mrs. Quicue, in Devonshire.

Mr. Edward Muskett Darken, of Wellington, who came to England via Panama, lias an important discovery in meteorology which he desires to lay before tho British Government.

Capt. and Mrs. Phillip Putnam have gone for a- week to Scotland. Capt. Putnam is now doing surgical work at the New Zealand Hospital at Brockonliurst, after having been for sonic time at AValton-on-Tbames.

Corpl. Arnold Lorie, of Waikato, who is over here to join an 0.T.C., after two years' service in Samoa, Gallipoli, Suez, Flanders, and Franco, is on 14 days' leave, and staying with his sister, Mrs. Hitchcock, at Toynboo Hall.

Mr. William F. Bines, of Parncll, who arrived in July, has been staying with his father at Ardlcigh, iii Essex. He has also visited relatives and friends in. tho provinces. Ho left on his return to New Zealand by the Renvuera.

Capt. Leo. Myers, of Anokland, of tho King's Royal Rifle Corps, returned from France, where lie had been in the Soinme fighting. Ho has boon recommended for a home appointment. His son, who developed appendicitis during tho holidays, and had to bo operated on, is now quite well again, and staying with his sister and parents at Bournemouth.

Miss Dormer Maunder, a Now Zealander, organisor of tho Belgian Military Hospital, . Bpurbourg-Chtunpagne, had the honour of receiving a visit from 1-1 .H. Princo Alexander of Tcck. After making a completo tour of tho hospital and talking to'tlie wounded and nurses, Princo Alexander had tea with Miss Maunder. The Prince then oxprosscd liis entirn admiratiou for tho hospital. New Zealandors will recall that Princo Alexander accompanied King George and Queen 'Mary wheti, as Princo and Princess of Wales, they visited . tho Dominion. Tho PrittCQ spoko of his visit in warmest terms of admiration, and of tho bean tics of-his trip through Rotorua in particular.
