Choral Wedding. The wedding of Mr. Burton, of Northland, to Miss Bentley was celebrated, at igt. Anne's Church, ■ Northlaud, yesterday. The service wa sa fully choral one, as Mr. Burton is the church organist, and 1 the Rev. Cyril Harvey officiated. The bride's sister, Miss Nnla Bentley, acted as bridesmaid, and the brido had also an escort of. eight little girls, who carried long ribbons to encirclo her, and later they strewed her oath with flowers. The bride was given away by her father, and Mrs. Bentley was also present. Tho members of St. Anne's Choir had tastefully decorated the church with white flowers and foliage. After the corernony a reception was held at the residence of tho hrido's parents, relations and intimate friends only being present. St. John Nursing Guild. Tho monthly meeting of the committee of the District Nursing Guild of St. John was hold on Monday afternoon at Mrs. W. H. S. Moorhousc's residence. Present: Mcsdames Moorhouse (presiding), Balcombo Brown, Corrigan, Gibbons, Misses Itobicson and Edmeades (hon. secretary). Apology for absence was received from Mrs. Pearson. Nurso Walton reported for October as follows:—Seven patients registered, five discharged, thirtyone remaining on register, <U8 visits paid. Gifts of clothing, etc., were acknowledged with thanks from: Mos- | dames Moorhouse, Balcombo Brown, Corrigan, Pitcher, Oliver, Fullarton, Lissack, Misses Eankin, Anderson, Evans, Russell, Messrs. Cooper and Ardrey, A Red Cross Committeo, Gear Co., three anonymous parcels. Tho annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 14. A vote of thanks was passed to tho Board of Trustees of the Macarthy Trust for their generous grant of £75.
Tho district nurses purpose giving tho sick children they have attended during the year a picnic on December 2. They, would be very glad of contributions of monpy, broad, butter, eggs, ham, cakes, sweets. A flag which was knitted by the women of New Zealand for presentation to Lord Kitchener was entrusted to Lady Ward to be sold at anotion by the Lord Mayor in aid of the Kitchener Memorial Fund.—Press Association.
The Shakespeare Club is doing much to foster tho reading of Shakespeare's plays, and its competition for Shakespeare reading in tho schools helps greatly in this,praiseworthy direction. The first place in the competition held oh Saturday was gained. by Miss Florence Qhurciiill, a pupil of the Wellington Girls' College, with 89 points. Miss Esther Fisher, a pupil of tho Fitzherbert .Terrace School, was second with 78, and Miss Hazel Jeffrey, of the Wellington Girls' College, was third witli 76. Tho Girls' College gained first and second places.last year.
At tho monthly meeting of the Wellington District W.C.T.Tj. tho following resolution was passed:—"The union views 'with "regret tho action of tho Hon. A'. L. Herdmau in not acceding to tho request of the ladies' deputation which waited on him recently re the appointment of )v«unen police." At tho samo meeting arrangements were made for tho holding of a large jumble sale on December 2, in the W.C.T.TJ. room, in' Constable Street.

Mrs. Florence Helen Turton 'Withers, wife of Mr. A. J. Withers, of Pahnerston North, died very suddenly on Saturday ovening from heart failure. Mrs. Witliers was a daughter of the late Mr. J. B. Godwin, of Wollington, and sister of Mrs. W. L. Macphcrson, and Mr. R. B. Godwin, of Palmerston North. Great sympathy is felt with'all the relatives in their sudden bereavement. TOILET HINTS. St. Barnabas' CUuroh Bazaar.
St. Barnabas' Church bazaar was ! opened yesterday at the Iviosk; Oriental Bay, and ,a very fair number of people were present in spite of wind and weather. The Rev. Mr. Frankl.Vn received and introduced the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr. and Mrs. Luke); and Mr. Luke, in. a few words, declared the bazaar to be open. Mrs. Luke referred tothe amount of good wort that the women of New Zealand were doing not only in parochial matters, but also in patriotic channels. Amongst those present were the Ven. ArchdcAcon Fancourt, Rev. Mr. Askew and Mrs. Askey, and the Rev. A. M. Johnston. The colour scheme of the stall decorations was mainly in rod, white, and blue. The following were stall-holders: —. Fancy stall, Mesdames Franklyn, Exley, Evans, and Miss Lomax; kitchen stall, Mesdames Drew, Woodward, and Brinsden; fish pond, Mesdames Keir, Rcid, and Miss Taylor. A very popular competition, entitled "Bunty Pulls the Strings," was managed -by Messrs. Partridge and Huncher; produce, Mesdamos Partridge and Horner; plain sowing, Mesdames Blythe,.
