HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT.
rho Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, November 4 from the High Commissioner for i\ew Zealand. (Note-Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are avorago market prices on spot):— Meat.—There is a poor demand for N.Z. mutton and lamb, owing to a, largo snpply of home-killed mutton; and English lamb. Argentine beef is selling at comparatively low pricos. N.Z: mutton, Tcry scarco, per lb., 8 3-Bd.; cwo mutton, Bd.; Argentine mutton, heavy-weight, 81d.; light-weight, B|d.; N.Z. lamb, 9Jd.; Argentine Jamb, BJd. There is very litle N.Z. ox beef on the. market, and only inferior quality is obtainable. N.Z. ox beef hinds, 7Jd.; forea, 6Jd. ; Argentine chilled beef, lunde, 8 3-Bd.; fores, 7jd. Butter.—The market continues firm. Danish, owing to small supplies, prices aro firmer, per owt., 2145. to 2185.; lTi6h creamery, smell supplies, salted, 1965. to 300Va.; unsalted, 200 a. to 2045.; Canadian, salted, «ss. to 1985.; N.Z., spot, market is bare: salted, 2COs. to 2045.: good to fine quality, salted, 1945. to 1985.; Argentine salted, 1985.; unsalted, 198s. to 2005.; -American creamery, salted, 186s. to 190s. Cheese—Tho market haa a firmer tone since last report. Canadian, white, 114s. to 116s;; coloured, 114s. to 1165.; English Cheddar, 1245. to_ 1265.; N.Z., no official quotations, nominal quotations,' white, 113s. to 1145.; States flats, white, 112s'. to 113s. The estimated Canadian and States cheese stocks at London, Liverpool, and Bristol, 299,000 boxes, against 275,000 at 6ame time last year. The estimated N.Z.cheese stocks at London and Bristol (mutilated word here), crates, against 3100 at same time last year. Hemp.—The market is firm, but unsettled, and is too speculative. Quotations are nominal. Good fair N.Z. hemp, per ton. £53; fair, £51; Governmenteroded fair Manila, £54 10s.; coarse. £51 10s.; January to March shipment, croud fair N.Z., £52; fair, £50; Governmentgraded fair Manila, £53 10s.; coarse £50 10s. -s The output of hemp at Manila for the-week onded last Saturday was 17,000 bale 6. ... . Wheat.—The market is rather nnsottled on account of Government control. Prices have advanced since telegraphing vou. Quotations are nominal. Canadian 83s • ex-store Australian. 80s.; N.Z., 75s'. Oats.—A firm market, and there is more demand. N.Z. on. spot, 38s. Wool.-The market is firm at the advance.
