The Karori. 11-ilie Club opened its 1916-1917 season with a friendly shoot amongst members on Saturday afternoon last, at ranges 3QO and 500 yards, and although very heavy rain iset in during the later part, of tho afternoon some very good shooting was put up. Tho Suburbs Defencc Rifle Club opened their championship series on Saturday at Broadway range, Sliramar, at ranges 300, 500, ' and 600 yards. Tho best shoot for the afternoon was made by J. Smart, who scored 07 off the rifle, and mado a possible at 500 ■yards. The club will continue their shooting' on . Saturday next at ranges 500 and 600.yards, 10-shot match. Tho club committees will meet at C. R. Graham's, on Tuesday evening., -A special" trophy, valued at 215., will be allotcd to each series to. the most'im-proved-shot in .each.
