He was with his roijinient when thoy were gassed. "Wearing his respirator, ho found it impossiblo to speak to the wounded and dying, so he tore it off. All .the night be laboured l faithfully in consoling and caring for the poor' sufferers. Gradually the poison gained upon him, and lie fell, laying down his life freely for his comrades."
The.Metropolitan Life Insurance Company of New York has given to the Mational Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis, a gift of £25,000 to prove that tuberculoids can bo controlled like any other infectious disease. A town or city of about 5000 inhabitants will be chosen, and a campaign started in it. .If it can bo shown that the disease can be eradicated. in one community, a nation-wide campaign will bo inaugurated.
