£2500 IN SIGHT
GRAND TOTAL OVER SHSOO. At midnight last night tho total of moneys in hand and counted had readied £4090 13s. 10d., of which sum £2063 lGs. 7d. was collected yesterday. At that hour a staff of twenty-live men, in their shirt-sleeves, wero still hard ,atit, opening coliection-boxcs, and counting tho spail. Mr. James M'lntosh -iic treasurer) reported that the stall (fclio second lie had bad that day) would bo engaged until 3 a.m., and that it was quito safe to add another £500 to the figures given (over £200 of which was to conn* from the Commercial Travellers' Committee). To facilitate matters, the Hank of Australasia mado arrangements to roeeivo the money as it was counted. So thoroughly was tho work dono by the treasurer s stall that up till 9 p.m. there was only a few pence difference between the treasurer's and the bank's total. Mr. M'lntosh reported that thero
was no doubt but. that the £10,000 from the Wellington district would be raised.
