RED CROSS APPEAL ON FRIDAY. Very completo arrangements are being made in connection with' tho "Our Day" appeal for funds to aid the work of the Red Cross Society in ministering to the sick and wounded. Friday will bo devoted to the big effort in tho city, and on Saturday attention will bo devoted to tho suburbs.. Tho committee in charge of the appeal hopes to raise a sum of £10,000. There will be stalls at many points in tho principal streets, where ladies will sell all kinds of goods. Between noon and 2 p.m. there will be ,a processional display, and in the evening there will be a monster torchlight and fancy dress procession, which will pass from Lambton Station, through the principal streets to the Basin Reserve. Several bands will take part,. and novel displays are promised by members of tho Fire Brigade, returned soldiers, Harbour Board employees, and others. Tho appeal is confidently made >by those in charge of-, the scheme, who feel sure that tho great and growing need for funds for' the work of mercy has only to be known for the people to givo liberally. The arrangements are being attended to By the May or A as chairman of the general committee, Mr. T. Young (chairman'of tho executive), Mr. Jamps M'lntosh (lion, treasurer), Mr. David M'Laron (lion, secretary). Tho trustees of tho fund are the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, tho Hon. Charles Johnston, and Mr. Joseph Joseph, and careful regulations havo been mado in regard to the. issue and return of sealed collecting boxes with signed permits. Notice is advertised of the various places in town where stalls will be sta:tioncd for the salo of goods oil Friday. Saturday's programme for the suburbs is also outlined. Mr. 11. Alpe, tho long-distance walker, will maka his walk from Upper Ilutt ; on Friday, starting at 10.15 a.m. and finishing at Courtenay Place. MILITARY CONCERT AND REVUE. The entertainment arranged by tlio. n.c.o.'s of the Twenty-fourth Reinforcements and the Wellington Savage Club, to take place in the large Town Hall on Saturday evening, is expccted to considerably swell tho fund. The first half is being contributed by the n.c.a.'s, the loliowng giving items:—Duet. "Tho Battlo Eve," Corporals Joll and Haiina- y song, "Toreador Hola," Corporal .Nees; monologue, selected. Corporal Jfcuton (champion elocutionist, Cliristcliurch); song, "Chip of tlio Old Block," Lieutenant A. Oakey; song, "Friend o' Mine," Corporal Hanna; quartot, • "The ,Dear Littlo Shamrock," 24th Quartet; song, "King Charles," Corporal Joll; and fire club swinging exhibition by Captain Potter, champion fire club swinger, who will perform a double back somersault while swinging. Tho accompaniments will bo played by Corporal Dingle. The second .half of tho programme will be provided by members of tho Wellington Savage Club, who are repeating their Trench Revue, "which was quite the outstanding, featuro ,of tho club's recent ladies' evening entertauim'cnt. TSe box plan is open at the Bristol L'l'ano Co., where tickets to all parts may also be purchased.

The manager of tho King's Theatre has arranged with his film suppliers, fchb New Zealand Picture Supplies, Ltd., to donate the sum of £25 to tlio funds of tho Bed Cross. In addition, this theatre is further contributing 25 per ccnt. of its takings on Friday.
