AWARD IN DRIVERS' DISPUTE,

Judgment lias been filed in tlio Arbitration Court in the Wellington, Wangantii, Napier, and Hastings Motorcar, Horse-drivers, and Livery Stable Employees' Dispute.

A memorandum to the award states: "Wo regret tho delay which has taken place in making the final awards in connection with the drivers' disputes, hut as no substantial departure has been mado from interim awards which ■have been made from time to time in tlio different industrial districts, tho workers have not boen soriously prejudiced. Apart from tho increase of four shillings a week granted to the drivers, tho carrying trade is subject to considerable burdens in tho shape of increased cost of materials attributable to war conditions, and tho Court, therefore, after careful consideration, came to tho conclusion that it could not reasonably, having regard to all the interests involved, increase those burdens by a still further increase in the wages of the workers. Tho Court, however, has given tlio workers some lolief _in connection with the vexed question of stable attendanco, and lias limited tho ordinary hours of work to liino per day." The award was the decision of a majority of tho Court.
