Since his return from tho Dunedin Meeting Wrestler has, says a southern writer, been under a cloud, and during the past .few days has developed lameness. This means that the brilliant son of Antagonist will bo off tho scene for the C.J.C, meeting, at which his prosnects of picking up a Rood stoko looked bright. The colt was withdrawn from the Stewards' Handicap.
Hexton, who won three races at the Poverty Bay Turf Club's Meeting, is a three-year-old gelding by Gazeley from La Sabine. Racing in Mr. S. Liddell's colours last season ho showed very consistent form, being placed in seven out of his 11 races.
J. O'Shea rode five winners at the Gisborne Meeting and Deeley and Emerson eaoh rode three.

At Ricoarton on Saturday morning Fiery Cros3 was given his first strong lop since his return from Wellington his task being a mile and a half on the grass. With the assistance of Glendower over the first six furlongs and Slogan to bring him home the Cup horse reeled off his first milo in lmin. 476e0., the full journey taking 2min. 413-ssec. Fiery Cross finished up his task nicely, anil altogether gavo a creditable performance.
