October 2fl, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, Octoher 29. Three suspicious outbreaks of firo occurred at the Victoria Barracks during the past twenty-four hours. A quantity of cotton-wasto and grease were found. The timely discovery of the outbreak prevented any i damage being done. A German has been arrested in connection with these fires.
NATIVE UNREST AT THE ISLANDS
MISSION NATIVES. MASSACRED. 1 Sydney, October 28. The steamer Induna brings reports of native unrest on the Island of Mallicollo (New Hebrides). There has been tribal fighting, and frequent raids on the coast villages. Six mission natives wore massacred, and the lives of the whites threatened'. Many aro living on their vessels and fear an attack.
