H. Peacock applied for Section 5, Block VII, Maungakaretu S.D. It was resolved to recommend that ho be allowed to select it for cash under Section 131 of the Land Act, 1908, at the price of M 10s. per acre. W. E. Pasa surrendered his permit to split dead timber on Crown land near Ilaurimu Spiral; and Frank Anderson applied for a similar permit to split dead timber in the'same locality. It was iesolved to accept Mr. Pass's surrender of his splitting permit, snbject to his being allowed to remove posts now on' the ground on payment of the required royalty; and to ask the. Ranger'for a report as to whether there is sufficient dead timber in that locality for two splitters.

Applications were received for licenses to split silver pine, etc., on Crown lands between Horopito and Erua from the following:—Messrs. A. P. Claridge, P. W. Eosenberg, g; Bix, C. Cu,tzell, J. Sheahon.. It was resolved to adhero to the policy of retaihiug all timber in that locality until the more" valuable varieties are .milled and to decline the applications. Applications wero received from Messrs. J. Harrigan and W. Thoresen for a permit to occupy about 2SB acres of Crown lands at Horopito, between road and railway, north of Section 2, Block- XVI, Manganui. It was resolved to decline Mr. Hioresen's application, and to grant Mr. Harrigan a. permit to occupy from year to year, under Section 130 of tho Land Act, 1908,' at a rent of per annum, subject to the usual conditions and to Crown s right to grant splitting licenses over this area.

Mrs. Maswell applied for a permit to oooupy Soctions 1 to 11 and M to 24, Block XII, und 2 to 8, Block XIV, Horopito West Township, area 13 acres 2 roods 27 porches, and it was resolved to grant it from year to year, under Section 130 of the Land Act, 190S, at a rent of J!3 per annum, subject to the usual conditions.'

Applications were received from Messrs. •T. W, Pope and P. Slieahon for certain sections in Horopito West Township. It was rosolved to grant Sheahon a permit to occupy the undciimontioned sections from year to year, under 'Section 130 of tho Land Act, 1908, at a Tent of £3 po ranmiin, subjeo tto the usual conditions Sections 1 to 10, Block X; 1

to 7, Block XI; 1, 9 to 16, Block XIV; Horopito West Township, area 29 acres 2 roods 16 perches.

Messrs. W. Booth and Co. applied for a licenso to mill timber in Raketapauma Block, north of the Wautapu stream, also for a license to split totaras which are too large for milling on the area included in their present. license. It was resolved to grant a liconso to mill over the additional area applied for, royalties to bo payable l on output at tho same rates paid under present license, also to grant a license to split unmillablo totaras, at a. royalty of I2s. per 100 posts.
