THAT POOR FLY
Sir, —I was reading in The Dominion 011. • Monday the letter ,of "Constant Reader," who tried to-cast a slur on three zoological gardens—one in Newtown Park, the one in Sydney, and the one ili Auckland. He says tho isoos are ft real paradise for fließ. Now, I want to show you, Sir, ho is'.wrong, every time, ana I think he must be dreaming. There are a great many gum trees in Newtown Park, and flies will not go where they are. And it is tho same in the Auckland Zoo. The flies do not like tho pine trees. The Auckland Zoo is in full swing, nnd not closed as' "Constant Roador" makes out, and is, doing well. He says the Sydney Zoo had to be shifted on account of tho flies. He is quite wrong again; and I think he has got a "bee ip his bonnet." Tho reason they are moving the Sydney Zoo is bocause they, wanted more ground-room. There would be no zoological gardens if they were left to men like "Constant Reader."~l am, etc., ' J. J. BOYD, Sen. October 24. .
