PORT OF WELLINGTON
MEETING OF HARBOUR BOARD. The monthly mooting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held last night. Thcro were presont: Messrs. C. E. Daniell (chairman), H. L. Nathan, J. G. Harkncss, W. Cable, 11. A. Wright, M.l\, A. H. Hindinarsh, M.P., W. T.. 1-lildreth, J. W. M'liwan,, J. G. Cobbe, A. MaeFarlane, R. E. Sinclair, M. Cohen, and R. Fletcher, M.P. Tho bank pass books showed n credit to current account of £38,331; to imprest account £2595; and on fixed deposit, £60,000. It was decided to accept tho offer of the Petone Borough Council of cash payment for -weighbridge, etc. at Petone in lieu of annual interest, and to grant tho council a fourteen years' lease of tho sito (subject to six months' notico of termination) at a nominal rental of £1 per aimum.
The chairman, speaking for tho Wharves and Accounts Committee, asked the board to empower tho chairman and engineer to negotiate for the leasing of sections on Waterloo Quay reclamation, including temporary accommodation without rental for the Minister of Munitions and Supplies, for a. period terminating not than twolvo months after tho conclusion of the war, and thereafter if required, at a rental to bo- agreed upon. Authority was granted. Tho engineer's report ro the"erection of a brick store at the foot of Taranald Street Wharf and the preparation 'of working plans was authorised. . The secretary was authorised to cnll for tenders for the lease of the Queen's Wharf bookstall i'or three years, from December 12, 1916.
