THE WEATHER
Yesterday another gusty northerly held sway in the district, but the force of the wind dropped considerably towards the evening. A drifting, weeping kind of rain fell at soaking filters vals, and the atmosphere was inclined to he oppressive. From the official reports, it is gathered_ that the rainfall was spread over a wide area. We are promised, according to pre-> sent indication, variable winds, with; strong westerlies, veering to southwesterlies, predominating. The baro-< meter will rise everywhere soon—buii it will only be a temporary effort, we aro told—and in the meantime we are to expect cloudy and unsettled weather, with rain in many parts.
