Great amusement was caused in London recently by the appearance in the dock of a young man who was dressed as a fashionable young, lady. , He had on a long blue coat, reaching to his heels, which was richly braided, white kid gloves, a college cap, and veil. He gave tho name of Frederick AVright, ,3ged 22, a valet, and he was charged • with being an/idle and disorderly person, in female' attire, with giving a •false description when registering • at a boardingliouse, and with being a deserter from the Royal Fusiliers. A detective said' that when ho questioned prisoner, Wright gavo the name of .Kathleen Woodhouso. "AVoodhouse is the name of -a''district in Finchloy," he added. "I have no . occupation. My husband keeps mc.'l On the way to the police station he said, "I will give you £5 to let me go. 1 don't want any fuss." At' tho police' station Wright said he disliked soldiering and soldiers and anything at all manly, adding, "I wish I had been a woman, as I love wearing beautiful clothes, and all my tastes are feminine. I intended to live as a woman till after tho war is over, arid then go back'to be a valet." He was remanded in custody.
