WOMEN POLICE
Sir,—ln regard to the deputation that waited on Mr. Herdman yesterday, I consider that Mr. Herdman deserves the' thanks of every right-minded woman for the attitude he takes on the subject. There are many harmless girls working all dayin the city who spend their evenings in tho brightness of the town, and are they to be subjected to tho scrutiny of men-women, who would take a 'delight in tracking down many a bright, fun-loving' girl. Maybe, tho daughters of theso ladies entertain- the soldier boys at the Soldiers' Club, and our hard-working little girls aro to bo deprived of'a little innocent pleasure with their soldier friouds. Many of them would be'the objects for tho suspicions of these people. Mr. Herdman has shown us that ho respects not only the Polico Force, but has sympathy for tho fairer sex. — I am, etc., PATRIOT. ■ October 19.
