LABOUR DAY
All preparations for the carnival at Newtown Park on Monday next are now complete. The sports will commence at 11.30 a.m., and continue throughout the day. Tho Boy Scouts will assemble at John Street at 2 p.m., and, headed by the Kilties' Band, will march to the park, and during the afternoon give : displays of Scout -work. The tug-o'-war competition promises to he an interesting event, as several teams from tho camps aro oxpected to arrive and compcto with local teams. Entrios will close on tho ground at 1.30 p.m. The national dancing promises to ho a big event, and thorowill also be a baby show, side-shows, novolty events, and attractions for young and old. Toys will be supplied'to children, and milk and hot water is to bo supplied free. Tho sports will bo undor tho direction of Mr. T. W. Leslie. All that is now required is lino weather arid the carnival should bo a huge success.
