FRENCH CLUB.

The annual meeting of the French Club was hold on Wednesday evening, under the presidency of Captaiu Barclay. Tho year's report dealt with the successful session now closing,- and showed the finances to bo in a sound condition. Members present to the valuable assistance rendered by Captain Barclay, the president, and by other officers, and paragraphs-embody-ing these sentiments were added to the report. ■The'following officers were'elected for the coming year:—Patron, Mr. J. Macintosh, Vice-Consul of France; president, Captain Barclay; vice-presi-dents, ' Sir Robert Stout, Sir Francis 1 Bell, M.L.C.; Messrs. W. B. Hudson, \ and H. F. Lattey, Madame DeclianetM'lntosh, "Mrs. Seville, and Miss van Stavcren; secretary, Mr. C. J. Cooke,, B.A. ;• niinute secretary, Madame De-chanet-M'lntosli; treasurer, Miss Mead; librarian, Mr. T. AYhetton; committee, Madame Simon, Misses Hind, M.A., M'Diarmid, and Lockie, Messrs. Adamson, White, Hodson, and Heginbotham. The annual .fete, .and 'distribution of medals and certificates to candidates successful at tlio club's examination, for young persons, was postponed till November 15. It'was decided to extend the present session to the end of November, and also to have a summer session beginning with February, and lasting:--till the opening of the winter session in May.
