SUBSTANTIAL LOSSES.

The profit, before charging interest and depreciation 19U-15, was ,£3107 10s. 10d.; while the interest, and depreciation amounted to i!GI93 7s.' sd. The profit before charging interest and depreciation in. 1915-16 was- ,£3145 Ss. 5d., while interest and depreciation represented l iE633t 6s. 9d. The accumulated loss from January 1, 1913 to Juno SO, 1916, amounted to .£19,858 4s. Gd. after interest and'depreciation had been met. No balance-sheets were prepared , before 1913. The area already promised for next season ia 1650 acres. '
The losses in operating tko various Government cool stores are out in n return as follow:—Burwood- East fruit cool store, ,£935 lis. Id,; Diamond Creek fruit cool store, .£IO9B 7s. Gd.;\Doncaster fruit cool Btore, .6871 : 3s. 9d.; Ringwood fruit cool store, .£lslO 35.; Tyabb fruit cool store,. ,£702 lis. Id.; Victoria Dock fruit cool stores, .E11,2-15. The Burwood East store was destroyed bv fire, and tho Ringwood store was sold laßt year. The loss shown in respect of the Victoria Dock stores was arrived at 'after having set aside the sura of £11,136 to meet interest on capital and depreciation on buildings arid plant sine© their opening.
