AN EX-NEW ZEALAND COLLEGE MAN. By Telegraph—Prees Association. Auckland, October 19. The Hon. G.. W. Russell, in a speech! at the opening of the Red Cross Rooms, said that his son had stated in a letter that among a number of German prisoners carried by tho Marams. from France to England was a New Zealander, trained in one of our best-known' collegiate institutions. Mr. Russell uttered a warning to the public against giving credence' to German inspired news, such as tho coloured statements appearing in the cabled news from Home. Theso were calculated to discourage Tecruiting by giving the impression that it was impossible to bring Germany to lier knees. Whatever tho appearance of things, the British people were determined to see the war through to ' a successful peace.
