London, October 18. Sir Douglas Haig reports: "W§ bombarded the enemy in.the neighbourhood of Neuvillo St. Vaast, Wytschaete, and north-east of Ypres. Our aeroplanes bombed the enemy's railway lines, stations, billets, factories, and dopots. Three of the enemy's machines woro destroyed, and another was driven down. Anti-aircraft guns brought down a British aeroplane. Bis others havo not returned." FRENCH OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. London, October 17. 'A' French .official communique stales: "Wo fcaptured a new group of houses at Saillv-Saillisel. A violent counter-attack succeeded in penetrating our first line. Wo immediately throw out tho enemy." (Reo. October 18, 10.5 p.m.) Paris, October 18. 'A.Fronoh official communiquo states: "Two fresh attacks by tho enemy eastward of Belloy were completely repulsed, with, heavy loss to the oncmy. German aeroplanes bombed Amiens, but did no military damage." GEIIMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. London, October 17. A German, official communinuo states: "Attacks near Gueudecourt broke down, and others near Saillv and Fresnes failed. Hand-to-hand fighting is proceeding. We repulsed the French north of Mcsnil (in the Champagne)."
