GOLD SCARCE IN GERMANY
'AN APPEAL FOR ORNAMENTS,
(Reuter's Telegram.) (Rec. October 17, 2.0 p.m.)
Amsterdam, October 17. An appeal wliich has been circulated by Herr von Bothniann-Hollwegg (German Imperial Chancellor), the President of the Imperial Bank, and other money-lenders, for gold articles, says: "This sacrifice is small compared to the blood which we are shedding. Therefore, out with your superfluous gold ornaments from trunks and cupboards, and help the Imperial Bank to fill its coffers with golden weapons for Germany's economic armoury."
