EVADING STAMP DUTY
EX-MAYOR OP RANGIORA FINED,

Christchuroh, October 17. At Ratigiora to-day, E. R. Good, a Justice of the Peace and a former Mayor of the town, was charged with receiving £3 iu money and dividing the amount into two separate amounts of 30s. each, and issuing two separate receipts with intent to evade stam» duty thereon. Good was convicted ana fined 40s. on the first charge, and 20s. on the second charge, both with costs.
