19th REINFORCEMENTS
• TO MARCH NEXT WEEK,
The Nineteenth- Infantry Reinforco- , ments have .returned to camp at Tauherenikau from their extended leave, and are continuing their advanced infantry training. On Thursday week, the draft will begin their march ■ to Trentham, and it is understood, that when the Nineteenth march out, the temporary' camp at Tauhprenikau will bo closed. It was hastily equipped when the Nineteenth were moved from Trentham some weeks ago_ owing to sickness, and has been made into a. comfortablo camp, as far as the climatic conditions allow. The worst weather condition has been the wind, though_ this has not been so bad as at the main Featherston Camp. The men, while recognising that the camp was a healthy one and well adapted for training, felt somewhat isolated at first as regards means .of recreation. A fine hall was erected by the Salvation Army, Kkilled_ workmen among the soldiers • supplying the labour. This building is to be removed when the camp is closed. Other bodies also worked well in the direction of supplying recreation and places where officers and men could read and write letters. Except for the fact that, being at Trentham brings them into closer touch wfEh their relatives . and friends, ihe men • of the Nineteenth are not anxious to leave Teanherenikau, especially in such weather as ' prevailed. yesterday, when there was more than a suggestion of rammerin the air.
