V THREE MEN SENTENCED FOR CARGO BROACHING Albert William Westrupp, for whom Mr. T.'Neave appeared, Frite lleirsen, represented by Mr. P. Levi, and John Carlson, represented by Mr. A. H. Hindmarsh, who appeared for sentence on Saturday, wore liberated owing to a, technical error in the commitment. They wcro immediately rearrested, again camo before the Court yesterday afternoon for sentence on charges <$ theft of cargo. Thoy. wore brought before the Magistrate's Court, in the morning, where they again pleaded guilty. Counsol for accused in each case put in a strong plea for probation. It was pointed out that all threo were young men who had not previously been before tho Court. Westrupp passed through the training ship Amokura, and bad a good character. His Honour said that broaching cargo was looked upon ag a serious offence, and accused wero liable to 14 years' imprisonment; However, in view of their previous good character, and the fact that they did not attempt to shield themselvos behind falsehoods, he would grant each probation for a- period of six months, and ordored each man | to pay within ono month £4 expenses.
