Mr. Massey, interviewed regarding 1 tho Dominion's participation in the [ war, said: "We have simply done our duty to the Motherland and ourselves, ; because we realised that our liberty ; and progress were threatened almost as greatly as those oF/Eke older communi--1 ties.''New Zealand is.prepared to mako whatever further sacrifices are de--1 manded." , Referring to post-war questions, he said: "I foresee the day when tho Empire's reconslruotion will be the supreme question. Patriotio and Imperial sentiments will not suffice. We need more_ clear thinking, definite plans, decisive and immediate action. : We must utilise material and other resources to tighten up our inter-Empire and Dominion Preferential treatment would promote and expedite this. We must erect impregnable barriers against German post-war trade , attacks. Then shall we stand before the_ world, united nations of Britain, invincible and indissoluble in peace or war."
