TWO DEATHS REPORTED.
Two,deaths are reported to have occurred in the Trentham Hospital on Saturday night. Pte. J. B. H. M'Kinnoy, E Company, 18th Reinforcements, died from cerebro-spinal rhoningitis in a very aggravated form. Pte. E. G. Tunnicliffe, B Company, 21st Reinforcements, died from measles.
Reports regarding the inhaling rooms at the military camps indicate that the now treatment, which involves the inhaling of the fumes of sulphate of zino in steam, is proving a success. "All men found to he suffering from soro throats and other complaints of a similar character are given' treatment in. the inhaling T rooms, with the object of destroying any germs that may have found lodgment in their systems. Ccre-bro-spinal meningitis appears sometimes to have its beginning in a 6ore throat. During the week endod October 13 tho number of men treated in the inhaling rooms was 312, include ing 25 men who were suspected of being "carriers" of cerehro-spinal meningitis. All these carriers were given, clean bills of health after three or four treatments. Of the other patients, 276 were discharged well, five were much improved, four were improved, . and three showed no change. The treatment is not pleasant, since it involves confinement for some minutes in a-suf-focating atmosphere of ■ antiseptic fumes, but ite efficacy in the destruction of noxious germs appears to he proved. , .
