MEETING OF THE COUNCIL, The Makara County Council met yeste^ay..;;/'.There,were present: Council■JorisijH.jiJ. Moilagban (chairman), J. 'H;i' !: Haggerty;' 1 A. J. Taylor, S. B. Mexted, S. Bryant, and G. Monk. It was resolved to procoed at once with the .extension and. repairs of the East Porinia and Mitchell's Bridges. Councillor Mexted was appointed to the Finance Committee, vice Councillor ,'Pyle, resigned. ' , It was resolved that Councillors Taylor and Mexted should inspect and report to next meeting of the council on the, requirements as regards footpaths from- Porirua railway station to the asylum gates. . The district health officer drew the attention df tho council to tho insanitary condition of a house at Ngahauranga, and tlie council decided to notify the owners to carry out repairs forthwith. Tho occupier of a_ property at Raroa is to be given notice to immediately cease discharging filthy matter on to the main road through an open drain. An application from Mrs. A. Fraser to erect-^her fence on the Hawtrey estate in positions to bo fixed by the j councillors for tho riding was granted.
