Wedding in St. Mark's. The wedding took place yesterday afternoon, in St. Mark's Church, of Miss Alice Besant, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James. Besant,-of • Ellico Avenue, Wellington; to Mr. James M'Dbwall, at one time of Victoria College, AVelliugton, biit now resident in Sydney.' The ceremony waa performed by. the Rev. Mr. • Askew, vicar of St. Mark's. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty white, crepe do chine costume with a crepe de.chine hat to-match. The bridesmaids were her sister, Miss Laura Besant, and Miss Agnes M'Dowall, both of whom wore fawn gabardine costumes, the former with a fawn hat trimmed with ; pink flowers, and the latter a blue hat with a rose pink crown. All three carried shower bouquets, the bridesmaids being of pink flowers. The best man was Mr; Burbidge. After : .the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Besant in Ellice Avenue, among the guests being Victoria Collego friends of the'bridegroom, and also tho bride's grandmothoiv ■; To-day: Mr. and Mrs. M'Dowair leave-for their home in Syd-/ ney. •■ . , .:;. Red Gross Eauipment. There were received during tho past month at the Red Cross Depot, in Mercer Street, the following articles of hospital equipment: l —Bs sheets, 40 drawsheets, 178 towels, 20 quilts, 183 pillowcases, 293 flannel undershirts, 1022 pyjamas, 65 balaclavas, 14 pillows, 3 cushions, 110 hospital shirts, 22 flannel nightshirts; 493 day shirts, 131 underpants, 62 cholera belts, 45 mufflers, 58 mitttns, 2 operation gowns, 368 white handkerchiefs; 90 slippers, 224 manytail bandages, 222 T bandages, 1895 triangular bandages, 12,640 dressings and swabs, 53 treasure bags, 469 bandages,. 16 splints, 21 h.w.' bags, 74 dressinggowns, 31 flannel waistcoats, 515 head bandages. Prom the depot were dispatched during the month 285 drawsheets, 160 towels, 1180 pillowcases, 475 flannel shirts (under), 1550 pyjamas, 245 machine-mado socks. 4 pillows, 2 cushions, 236 hospital sheets, 15 flannel nightshirts and 15 cotton, 685 day shirts, 7 ,160 handkerchiefs (coloured), 200 white handkerchiefs, 160 pairs slippers, 326 many-tail "bondages, 185 T bandages, 2630 triangular, 7140 swabs and dressings, 250 treasure bags, 31 splints, 15 n.w. hag covers,, 1035 head bandages.

1 St. Paul's Gift Tea. In spito of the unpleasant weather conditions of yestorday, xbo gift tea which was held at Mrs. Shirtclitt'e's residence, in aid of St. Paul's bazaar, was very successful, and resulted iu even moro financial contributions being received than was tho case last year. Sales of cakes and (lowers assisted in adding to the funds. Beautiful flowers were contributed for this purpose, and in charge of thera were Miss Mariory Brown and helpers. Afternoon tea was' served in the dining-room, and also handed round in the drawing-room, thi being in the charge of Mrs. Bamfields, Mrs. Knowles, and Mrs. Larnach, assisted by Miss Shirtcliffe, Miss Seaton, Miss Ellison, and Miss Brandon. They also attended to tho sale of cakes. Mrs. Shirtcliffe received the visitors and assisted in various ways where necessary. Competitions were held, the prizes for which were given by Mrs. A. M. Johnson, Mrs. Bevin, and Miss Ba-ber, the winners being Mrs. Fussell, and Mrs. and Miss Seaton. There was also a prize for the unfortunate < one who guessed the loast answers in the competitions. During tho afternoon songs were contributed by Miss Anderson, and the Rev. Oyril Harvey. Among those who were present were the Rev; A. M. Johnson and Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. S. E. Knowles is. the secretary of/ tho guild, by whom the arrangements were principally carried out. with the 'assistance of Mrs. Shirtcliffe, Charley's Aunt Club. The first annual meeting of the "Charley's Aunt" Club was held last evening. Mi-. Atack presided, .and there was a good attendance of members. The annual roport, which was .presented by the secretary, Mr. Norman Aitkon, stated inter alia tbat "at the commencement of the season the club possessed one medium-sized room; had a membership of 43, and a dobit balance in the. profit and loss account of £1!) 17s. 3d. This yoar, after writing off £16 10s., which represents half the. cost of the alteration ito the premises, the profit and loss account shows a credit balance of £18 4s. Bd., and the membership stands at 108, with every prospect of a large inorease during the com-" ing year. During the year the olub had taken its share in raising money for patriotio purposes, and bad handed over some £200. In addition,.members had assisted in entertaining soldiers in. camp, besides which many of them have taken part in functions under the auspices of other bodies. The committee places on record the following names of members who have joined the ranks of the N.Z. Expeditionary Forces:—• Messrs. Alhyright, Exton, Holloway, iHoughton, Houston,-Luks, Mansfield, H'ullyn, Khind, W.; Spencer, Following i the example of kindred clubs, it has been decided that all members on active service shall remaiu members without paying a subscription."
