THE CALL FOR MEN
a 1 WELLINGTON'S POSITION 82 RECRUITS URGENTLY NEEDED Group o (Wellington City and Suburbs) requires 82 additional recruits to go into camp with the Twonty-scc-ond Reinforcements on Tuesday next, in order to bring its draft to full strength. The quota allotted tho Group is 252 men, this including recruits needed to 'cover shortages in the Twentieth and Twenty-first lleinforcements. The number of men shown to be available on the books of tho Central Recruiting Office at the Town Hall is 170. 29 recruits who had elected to join the Twenty-second Reinforcements .took the oath. If this rate of recruiting can be maintained during the remaining days of the week, tho city wiTl avoid having to confess another shortago of men for a Reinforcement draft. Tho recruiting officers point out that there is an opening now for any man who wishes to get into camp without delay? Doctors and dental officers are in attendance at tho Town Hall recruiting office during the morn'ng ana afternoon, and recruits can ho , examined quickly, attested, and handed their first day's pay preparatory to altering camp next week. . Since the new system, involving the formal attestation of recruits, came into operation on September 27, tho Town Hall recruiting office has dealt with 526 men, comprising new recruits and old recruits called up fbl- attestation. Of this number 406 men havo been accepted and 120 rejected, the fit men being distributed over the various drafts as follows: Twenty-second Reinforcements, 192; Twenty-third Reinforcements, 96 ; Twenty-fourth Reinforcements, 76 ; other branches (including motor-boat patrol), 42.
