HEAVY FINES. • By Telegraph—]?ress Association. Christchurch, October 11. James Mahlieson was to-day fined £100. for using certain premises, occupied by him, as a common gaming house. Thomas Smith and Julia Gaye, charged with assisting in conducting tlte business of a common gaming house, were fined £20 and £5 respectively, Mrs. Gaye's fine being, increased to £5 Is. to allow of an appeal.
