HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
- ■ The Hutt County Council met yes> tcrday. Mr. M. W. Welch presided.^ The chairman; who had paid a speoiat visit to Wanganui, reported favourably on a certain tar preparation for roadmaking. It was decided jto adopt suggestions made by the Audit Department regarding the maintenance accounts for the tractor and stone-crushing plant. An application to erect a chapel on a piece of road reserve at Lowry Bay was not granted. The Wellington Automobile Club complained of a fence being down at the Silverstream (Jorge. It was resolved to reply that the matter was being attended to. A resolution was passed to add 10 per cent, to unpaid rates. It was decided to take the necessary steps to Taiso.a loan of £1800 in Whareroa Riding to purchase land for three roadmen's, cottages—one at Rikiorangi, one at Paraparaumu, and one at Paekakariki. Authority was given to spend £49 on widening the Paeltakariki Hill Road. A grant of £100 was made for the Manga Kotukatuku bridge, near Paraparaumu, and on the main road to Palmereton North.
