Mr. Gurtin, au American journalist, who has been ten months in Germany examining the conditions there, in an article in the "Daily Mail" shows the laborious system by which the Government is hiding from the world tho real state of the country.. The inner world of Germany now realises what real war is. The battle of the -Somme, when the offensive commenced, did not attract much attention. Even the highest military quarters regarded it ,as Britain's final bluff. Soldiere from the Somme now admit that Britain is learning her business. The German .losses havo been terrible, particularly in tho ranks of tho Prussian Guard. VON HINDENBURG DEIFIED. ("Tho Times.") London, October 9Mr. Curtin, the American journalist, says that the deification of von Hindenbu'rg and tho downfall of England are .stilluppermost in the thoughts of the Germans. Towns, babies, fashions,, even tho war loan, is named after Hindenburg, whose bust is found in every class laousftj . . . .
