BULGARIAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. Sofia, Octobor 9. A Bulgarian official communique states:—"We dispersed, reconnaissances by infantry and cavalry on the Struma front. There is a violent cannonade in the Moglenitza Valley.. Following abortive attacks for several days, the enemy in the Dobruja retired to his former positions."

THE PRESSURE ON THE RUMANIAN FRONT

London, October 9. The Rumanian situation, is obscure. It is evident that von Hiridenburg has concentrated all Us available reserves and Riven thorn to yon Falkenhayu and von Mackenson to punish Rumania. Rumania had withdrawn several divisions whioh formed her original army in Transylvania, .and sent them to the Dobruja. Tho German attacks necessitated a retreat in the whole of the Southern Transylvania. The retreat, which occupied a week, was skilfully organised, and carried out,' in good order. Von Falkenhayn only claims a few hundred prisoners, which are balanced by eight hundred Germans captured by General Crairiceanos in a sudden counter-attack. The Rumanians north of Kronstadt are 'still in the Maros Valley, in touch with tho Russian left. ■ RUMANIAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. (Rcc. October 10, 5.40 p.m.) Bucharest, October 9. A Rumanian official communique states"German aeroplanes bombed the warehouses near "the northern station, but the damage done was insignificant. The situation on the battlef ronts, is unchanged. We hold the heignts dominating Potroseny and the Jiu valley, and are in possession of tho Caineri defile. October 10, 11.20 p.m.) London, October 10. Aii .'Austrian official communiquo states that there was stubborn street fighting in Brasso before the Rumanians retired. Von Falkenhayn's troops drove baok the Rumanians near Toerzliurg, south-west of Brasso, and were stopped and defeated near Foldvar, north of Brasso. Reinforcements are en route from'the Raromszek region. The army of General von Aarz is now penetrating the Goergany mountains, farther to the north. WHOLE GREEK FLEET ABANDONS THE KING Rome, October 9. The Italian newspaper "Roma" stales that the whole Greek fleet has joined the national movement. Greek shipowners havo handed over thirteen steamors to M. Venizelos. M. VENIZELOS AT MITTLENE. (Rec. October 10, 6.15 p.m.) Salonika, October 10. M. Venizelos and other Greek Nationalist leaders, on visiting Mitylene, had a great reception. 11. Venizelos exhorted the people to submit to any sacrifice, and form an army to redeem Greek soil. The crowd responded with furious cries of: "Down with tho Arcfr-Traitor 1" and trampled on the porof King Constantino.
