OBITUARY
—-—4 — MR. WILLIAM FRASER SHORTT. The death of Mr. William Fraser Shortt occurred at his residenoe. Eastbourne, at 10 a.m. yesterday, after an. illness of ten days. Heart disease was the cause of his death, but tho cud was unexpected, as an improvement had been noticed on Saturday. The late Mr. Shortt was born in London iQ years a"o, and camo to Now Zealand when 31 years of age. Ho started business as an auctioneer and house-furnisher on the site at present occupicd by Shortt a Theatre. Tho popularity of Eastbounio is due partly to the foresight of daceased, who settled there early in the growth of the resort, and advertised its beauties. Ho was a nicmbor of the Eastbourne Bowling Club for several years. ' Deceased had three sons and ona daughter. Thoy .are: Messrs.' S B. Shortt, of Karon, 11. W. Shortt, oi Eastbonrno, and E. H. Shortt, of Feilding. His daughter is Mrs. R. H Wood, living in Canada.
