PRICE OF BUTTER

The Government has decided, as stated in- The Dominion on 'Saturday, hot to. sanction an increase-in-the price of - butter for locaLiconsumption.... .This does not get over .aU;the;,difficultieS'in the. business,. However; and the-formu-lation of a scheme which will ensure that the price shall not be raised, and which will also be just to the producers and exporters of butter, is no easy matter.No such scheme has yet taken definite shape, but tho proposal in view will, it is expeoted, make it certain that butter, will be. in plentiful supply, for local consumption at a price certainly not higher than that at present ruling. Before anything definite is done,, the factory owners and'exporters are to bo consulted, and they nave been summoned to a conference to be held early this week. It is unlikely that details of the Government's plan will bo announced before Wednesday next.
