At that, time the thoughts of'most of the men will be turned New Zealandwards, and it will be a pleasant and a cheering thing for tlicra to feel that wo have-been all along thinking of them. ; One way. of doing this is to send them each. a. Christmas gift—something that will remind them of .home, and which thev will appreciate for that reason. _l'o-da,v a-giea-fc effort will bo hiade to raise .the funds required'to purchase the presents to be sent. Ladies will collect in the streets, and will sol] badges an:l flowers, and in the-after-noon. thorc will be a carnival at the Basin Reserve. In one way or another .everyone should be able to do something to assist in' this worthy endeavour. All must' sympathise with, the purpose in view, and the response made to the appeal for .'"lids- will, it may be hoped, be correspondingly generous.
