At tho Tippor Hutt on Tuesday evening a largo gathering of farmers and sottlers met to say farewell to Mr. P. Garvey, who is leaving tho district. Mr. Garvey has boen agent at tho Upper Hutt for Messrs. Dalgoty and Co., Ltd., for tho last six years, and is severing Iris connection with tho firm to take up an important position as fat stock buyer for tho Tarnnaki Fannors' Co-operative Meat Co. Mr. Ward, who occupied tho chair, spoke very highly of Mr. Garvey's business qualifications, and of tho esteem in which ho is also held for his sterling personal worth. On behalf of his numerous friends, the chairman asked Mr. Garvey to accept a cheque as 'a token of their regard, Mr. J. B. Moodio, speaking for Dalgoty and Co., said it gave him tho greatest pleasure to be present, and to endorse all that Mr. Ward had said. Tho company was exceedingly sorry to lose Mr. Garvey's services after a connection extending over fourteen years, hut ho congratulated him heartily on- the position lie had secured, and which- he t thoroughly deserved, and predicted for him an increasing measuro of success in tbo work he is now undertaking.
