CITIZENS' XMAS GIFT FUND

SATURDAY'S GALA. The boy scouts are keenly interested in Saturday's parade. It is somo considerable time sinco all the units have been mustered for review, and added 'interest is given- on this occasion by the exhibition of the flag which is being sent to their comrades in France. This has becu shown at the principal centres, and will now bo forwarded to its destination, where, no doubt, it will be highly prized. The scouts, headed by their band, and expected to muster some 800, will march to -the Basin Resorvo from the Post Office. An added attraction in tho programme for Satur-. day will be a display by the-Y.M.'O.A. gymnastic' class with musical ._ accompaniment. A special feature will ho an exhibition by the young lady pupils. Tho ladies' hockey match, to bo played in the interests of the fund, should he worth seeing, as'two strong teams aro taking part. Schoolboys representing the City will try conclusions a'fc soccer with a te.'ani from the country. An invitation has been extended to the returned men from H.M.S. Pyrarmis and Philomel, and it is expected that they will bo present, and take part in some of tho competitions. His Excellency the Governor and tho Countess of Liverpool have granted their patronage to tho gala, and have expressed their intention of being present. Four bands aro exnected to be plnv-. ing at-tho Basin on Saturday, viz.. tho Trontham, Patriotic, Highland Pipe, and Trumpet Band.
