SHEARERS' RATES
It was reported recently that the secretary of the A.P.TJ. had stated that many of the sheepowners recognised the shearers' demand for payment at the rate of 255. per 100 as fair, and wore already engaging workers at that rate. i A Dominion representative was informed yesterday that it is quite incorrect to say that the 255. will he given by many. A few farmers in the Wairarapa .have given it, but the majority there and in 'Hawke's Bay are determined to pay tho £1 per 100 rate and the 2s. 6d. war bonus. A meeting attended by fifty Wairarapa sheepfarm'ers unanimouslv" decided to keep to those terms, and a gentleman who has just returned from a tour of tho East Coast, says that the same determination prevails in Hawke's Bay. The Maoris, he adds, will not stick out for the 255. ..Folks are buying motor-cars and life insurance by mail—why don't you buy your grass seeds the same way ? Government tests of purity and fertility aro given with all our samples, which takes away the element of chance so long associated with seeds. • Write us. Dept. D, to-day for samples and prices, and the tests will bo given you as well.
