VALUABLE SECTION SECURED. A' few days ago "it was recorded that a valuable blook of vacant land on the corner 1 of Ballance Street and Customhouse Quay had been bought by the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, Ltd., whioh intended later on to erect substantial office premises. Another important deal in land has liow been made by tho' sale of Uho adjoining section (in the same block), between Levin and' Company's offices and tho corner, section. This property has boon sold by Mr. T. Young, of T. and -W. Young, to the New Zealand! Shipping Company, through tho ageincy of Mr. 8. George Nathan. It is understood that the purchasing company, wihich is being merged into the ]?. and 0. Company, mil establish offices of - their own (perhaps their headquarters) in "Wellington. Tho section has a; frontage to Customhouse Quay of 50ft. 6-inches by a depth of nearly 100 ft. The price paid was £205 per foot. Negotiations" are now proceeding between the directors of the New Zealand Shipping Company and the Commonwealth and Dominion, Line to erect one. largo block to cover both sections, an. idba that should make for unifoimity in design and economy in construction. So far'no sketch plans have been prepared, hut it is anticipated that the new block will ho . ono of the finest in tho City, and a credit to the architecture of New, Zealand.
