FIRST DIVISION NOT TO BE CLASSIFIED THE DRAWING OF LOTS t ln the Military Scrvice Act it is provided that tho Expeditionary Force Reserve shall bo divided into tivo divisions, the First Division consisting o[ Binglo men, widowers, and men married sinco May, 1915, and the Second Division of married men. The Minister is given power to classify both the First and tho Second Division. For a little time to como /inly the First Division ivill bo drawn upon in the conscription ballots taken. The Recruiting Board lias not considered it necessary to nse this power to classify Division 1. The Minister of Defence, referring to the matter yesterday, said that experiaioe might show that it would bo idvisable to classify the First Division. It was an open question to bo ilecided in the future. Tho classification would not hqw be mado beforo the taking of the first ballot. This means that all tho men in tho First Division go to tho ballot on absolutely equal terms. Tho method of taking the ballot has not yet beon lecided upon beyond possibility of ilteration. It should bo understood that the roll consists of a great number of cards, the same cards that wore illed in and forwarded by men when snrolling.
