WOMEN'S NATIONAL RESERVE
4 A meeting of the women and girls who Linre come under the Women's National .Reserve Bogist-ration scheme was held hi the Y.M.C.A. yesterday evening for the purposo of discussing and arranging, matters in connection with the classos which are being organised. Mrs. Portor, organising secretary Tor Now Zealand, ocoupied tho chair, anil briefly outlined- what'it was the exccubnd proposed to do in connection with those classes, as it was intended that free tuition should bo given in general knowledge work, such at least that bore in any way upon commercial Knowledge. Mrs. Boden lias ■undertaken this work until tho end of tho year.Courses in connection with sbort- ! hand and typing had yet to be arranged : for. Mrs. Bodcn, chairwoman of tho Re- | gistration Committee, briefly addressed the meeting, and outlined the scheme of work which the committee had in view. Miss P. Myers, M.A., also spoke, pointing out that upon women in these days of war dovolved heavier responsibilities than had ever before devolved upon women, and urging them io do their utmost to rise to tho occasion. Opportunities wero now coming their way to show what women were capable of accomplishing, and she emphasised tho need in their daily work of punctuality, of accuracy, and of conscientiousness. Everything should bo done to foster business-like habits. It -was decided to hold anoflier~nieoting in St. John's class room at tho end of October to report progress, and to mako further arrangements in connection with the work of the Women's Be-, serve. s
